Grégory's story: the first En Chair et en Os anatomical wall mural

Grégory Planet is an osteopath who hosts a podcast dedicated to healthcare professionals. It was while listening to his content that I wanted to offer him a collaboration to decorate his medical office. Grégory Planet was very enthusiastic at the idea of having an anatomical wall mural in his premises, but for me, it was a real challenge: I had never created a large-format mural before!

The project was ambitious: to transform a 2.50m by 3.50m wall in his treatment room into a genuine work of art representing human anatomy. After discussing his needs and the ambiance he wanted to create, we defined the concept together: three compositions that blend anatomy and movement, science and art. The goal was to create a soothing atmosphere while bringing an educational touch to the private practice.

The realization took place over three intensive days directly in his office. I created three mural compositions:

A skeleton in a yoga pose: This first composition illustrates body flexibility and the connection between the nervous system and posture. The fluid lines of the skeleton evoke balance, perfect for promoting relaxation and reducing stress in patients.

A muscular écorché in a handball throwing position based on a reference of Nikolas Karabatic: This second mural captures the dynamic of athletic movement, ideal for explaining the osteopathic treatment of athletes during your care.

A Greek statue: This third composition brings a timeless artistic dimension, reminding us that the study of the human body is at the crossroads of art and science.

The result exceeded our expectations. Grégory Planet's office now possesses a unique visual universe, a veritable warm cocoon that plays an essential role in the first impression. This creation transforms the consultation space into a memorable place, reinforcing the professional image of the practitioner.

The little nice touch: The mural is only visible at the end of the anamnesis, creating a surprise effect that is highly appreciated! This final discovery turns the exit from the questions space into a memorable moment.

The Perfect Decorative Elements for an Osteopathy Office

Beyond a wall mural, numerous decorative elements constitute the warm ambiance of an office. Here is a selection of decoration ideas to outfit your space.

Anatomical posters and prints

Posters depicting the skeleton, the spine, and the nervous system are essential. These visual supports serve an educational function, reinforce your image as an expert, and create coherence in your work space. Note: favor high-resolution posters with anatomical region color codes. Pinterest inspiration is full of examples of successful compositions.

Comfortable furniture: chairs, armchairs, and tables

The choice of furniture is crucial for creating an atmosphere conducive to relaxation. Opt for an ergonomic office chair for your workspace, comfortable armchairs in the waiting room, and a wooden coffee table to place magazines and information documents.

Functional furniture must also be aesthetic: favor light wood or natural wood for a Scandinavian style, wooden coffee tables associated with linen cushions for a warm look. A small side table can add practical value to your waiting area. Designer furniture creates an immediate relaxation atmosphere.

Lighting: natural light and ambiance lamps

Lighting plays an essential role in the atmosphere of your practice. Prioritize natural light by installing sheer curtains that let daylight in without glare. Supplement with a desk lamp for your office area and soft lighting in the consultation area. To avoid: harsh fluorescent lights that create a cold ambiance.

Houseplants and natural materials

Houseplants bring life and oxygen to your therapist's office. Easy to maintain, they create a connection with nature and help reduce stress. Opt for hardy species like pothos or sansevieria. Natural materials (wood, linen, stone) enhance this warm and natural atmosphere.

Soothing colors and coverings

The choice of soothing colors influences comfort: neutral tones, beige, white, or a blue wall to bring a touch of serenity. Wall coverings can include soft paint, textured wallpaper, or even a wood panel. The floor should be easy to maintain: light wood flooring, soft rugs in the waiting room.

Accessories and small details that make the difference

Decorative accessories create a cozy nook: wall shelf with books on osteopathy, discreet ambient music, toys for children in a dedicated corner if your patient base is family-oriented. Also, consider the practical aspect with efficient storage for your documents and equipment.

Setting Up a Functional and Welcoming Private Practice

The layout of an osteopathy office requires in-depth reflection to create a functional and comfortable space, compliant with the health code. The arrangement must guarantee safety and hygiene in all zones.

A good plan defines different zones: reception with an executive desk or medical desk, a waiting area conducive to rest, a treatment room with an ergonomic massage table, and an office area for administrative management. The configuration must ensure fluid circulation. Modular furniture allows you to adapt the space to your needs.

The equipment is paramount: adjustable massage table, ergonomic work chair, computer equipment with management software for your patients. The material must be of professional quality. Lighting must be adapted without creating shadows, with a modular system.

To decorate your practice, consider interior decoration thought out to the smallest details: warm decoration with soft décor, comfortable furniture, minimalist decoration that does not clutter the room. The Scandinavian style with its natural materials and neutral tones is particularly conducive to relaxation.

Creating a True Cocoon for your Patients

Creating a warm ambiance in the waiting area of your practice requires special attention to the human dimension. Your doctor's office or medical desk must offer much more than a simple technical service: it must be a place of trust and serenity.

To see: the importance of the small reception nook right at the entrance. It is just after walking through the door that your patients form an idea of your practice. Adding elements like a plush rug, cushions on the chairs, and a small shelf with recent magazines immediately creates a reassuring ambiance.

The aesthetic side must not neglect the practical aspect. The furniture must allow for efficient storage while remaining aesthetic. An elegant way to combine both is to opt for wooden furniture with hidden compartments, open shelves to display beautiful anatomy books, and a discreet corner for your administrative management.

For healthcare professionals, note that every decoration element must be thought out in terms of maintenance: prioritize washable and durable materials, avoid overly fragile fabrics, choose plants that do not require too much care. The example of linen for curtains and cushions is perfect: natural, light, and easy to maintain.

The space must offer added value to the care experience. Every accessory must help create this true cocoon where the patient feels safe. It is this attention to small details that transforms a simple practice into a soothing and professional living space.

Conclusion: Your Practice, Your Identity

The decoration of your osteopathy practice reflects your approach to the profession and impacts the quality of the patient experience. As Grégory's project demonstrated, an anatomical mural transforms the atmosphere and creates a unique identity.

The layout of a warm consultation area involves the choice of furniture, colors, lighting, and accessories. Setting up your medical practice with care allows you to create an environment that reflects you and puts your patients at ease.
